UC Merced & First Lady Michelle Obama

uc-merced-0103.jpg

I was privileged to photograph the 2009 UC Merced Commencement. It was a great event despite the gruesome heat. If you would like to see more pictures, go to www.eye2eyephotostudio.com/html/uc_merced.html

Flower-Powwow

photoblog-day-103.jpg

I took my morning walk and for a moment I thought, “today I leave my camera at home, because I have photographed all my neighbors flowers already!” I am glad  I did not. The sprinklers just stopped and I was able to photograph the water drops. I used  different f stops to get the right depths of field. I decided for f8 because it showed the big drop wonderfully and the parts of the flower in the back are already way out of focus.

Happy photographing and never leave home without a camera!

Stanford Powwow

photoblog-day-102.jpg

I photographed at f2.8, 1/125 at ISO400. This setting completely blurred the background which was necessary since there were so many distracting objects around. When I look at this image I ask myself the question: What is this woman thinking? She seems to be far away in her mind.

There are great pictures published at the Stanford website. Go to  http://news.stanford.edu/news/2009/may13/powwow-051309.html

Light & glass

photoblog-day-101.jpg

My wife was shopping at the Stanford shopping center and I was walking around to see if there is anything interesting to photograph. There was this exhibition of glass products that caught my attention. I got permission from the vendor to photograph and I had a great time looking for reflections and other eye catching effects. I could not use any flash or studio lights. I only could use my tripod. Despite these limitation I was really happy with the results. Here is one of them.

Happy shooting

Scraffy

Pets are sometimes hard to photograph. Usually you can’t pose them like human beings. It helps having a few treats around and a lot of patience. Always try to get the eyes in focus!

Powwow @ Stanford University

The Powwow started around 7:00 PM. It got darker very quickly. I took most of my images with a wide open lens (f2.8) in order to avoid too much motion blur.

Enjoy!

Rocks, Lake, Sunset

blogrocks-lake-at-sunset.jpg

I caught the reflection of the  red/orange of the sunset and the blue sky at just the right angle. One of my favorite shots.

Sometimes the Pot of Gold is a tree and a good photograph.

Took a 20 minute drive up to Lake Yosemite, thought there might be a pretty good Sunset.

Getting ready for Mother’s Day

photoblog-day-98.jpg

This image is photographed in a busy shopping mall. I simply used a tripod and the black side of my reflector as a background. Never go photographing without a tripod and a reflector!

Happy photographing!
