Lamp post at night

Since it was nearly dark the only way to get this photo was to use a little trick. I exposed for the background at 4 seconds and used a flash (with a little help) to light up the lamp post. This technique can be very effective, even with portraits, just remember to set the exposure for the background. You’ll probably have to use a manual focus since most autofocus won’t work in this low light. A flashlight will help.
