Above Bridalveil Fall

photoblog-day-369.jpg

I always enjoy the view of Yosemite Valley when hiking away from the streets. I also like to enjoy images in black and white since they trend to be more dramatic and show the structure of the image. I composed this image by putting Bridalveil Fall into the lower left corner of the image. It is the brightest spot in the image and attracts the eye. The lines of the mountain edges enhance this even more by leading the eyes towards the Fall.

Enjoy and keep in mind that images are actively created, not taken!

Yosemite Falls

photoblog-day-368.jpg

The waterfalls in Yosemite are absolutely spectacular this time of the year. This is the bottom of Upper Yosemite Fall. I photographed this image parking on the side of the road using a 70-200 lens and a tripod.

Enjoy and go visit Yosemite!

Peace - Merced Wildlife Refuge

photoblog-day-367.jpg

I had to go out last night to the Merced Game Refuge because after the last storm the clouds were just great. This was maybe the last Spring storm and when a high pressure system is in place it is there to stay for a while and clouds are scarce. The image portraits a peaceful mood and is a powerful reminder how precious peace is, especially when we read almost everyday about killings and war in the media.

Have a peaceful day!

Royal Arch Cascade Fall in Yosemite National Park

photoblog-day-366.jpg

This seasonal waterfall can be reached in just a few minutes from the Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite Valley using the Mirror Lake trail. From the trail you can hike up on both sides directly to the rock. Both sides offer a spectacular look at the fall.

Enjoy and happy photographing!

Yosemite Valley in May

photoblog-day-365.jpg

The full waterfalls and the fresh green in Yosemite Valley is absolutely amazing. I meet people from all over the world here and I live just a few miles away. What a privilege!

The challenge for every photographer is photographing the color green and getting it as natural as possible. Luckily the new generation of digital SLRs have improved quite a bit on color accuracy. In addition I opted for a very soft setting which I achieved in post production.

Enjoy and take time off to go to Yosemite NP.

Patient

I’ve been to the Merced Wildlife Refuge many times and even though there are a lot of rabbits around I’ve never really tried to get a photograph, too fast, too far.

While taking photographs of a wildflower I noticed this rabbit out of the corner of my eye. I expected it to run off so I took a couple of quick photos with the wrong lens. This fellow (?) just stayed there going about his business never more than 10 feet away. I had time to change lenses, set my tripod up and here’s the shot.

The Other Yosemite

Yosemite is full of grand waterfalls and vistas, sometimes beauty is in the small things.

Last trip to Yosemite I tried to concentrate on the smaller aspects of the park. Hope you enjoy.

The Snail

photoblog-day-364.jpg

we spent the night in Stanford and I got up early next morning to see if there is anything interesting to photograph. The early morning light was just perfect when I discovered this snail. I used my 70-200L lens combined with an extension tube.

Enjoy and have a great week-end

Bon Appetite

photoblog-day-363.jpg

I shot this image with a canon 70-200L lens. This lens is just amazing. Enjoy!

The Sucker

photoblog-day-362.jpg

While I was photographing the dancers at the Stanford Pow-Wow I discovered this lady with her green sucker. I could not help it. I had to take this shot and I love it.

Enjoy and happy photographing!
