Kings River

photoblog-day-656.jpg

Kings Canyon national Park is by far less visited than Yosemite, however it is incredibly pretty and has a lot to offer. This year the water lever in the Kings River is very high and you see beautiful scenery driving along it.

Climbing Moro Rock

photoblog-day-655.jpg

yesterday we climbed Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park. It is a relatively easy climb and when you are on the top you are rewarded with a great view of the Sierra Nevada. In this image I tried to show the path that leads to the top, the beautiful mountains and the rock itself.

Bridalveil Creek

photoblog-day-654.jpg

I created this image from a single raw file using different layers. I wanted to show the power of the rapidly flowing water. I gave this layer a lot of contrast. The tress on the other hand I edited with less contrast to give them a more dreamy look.

Enjoy and happy photographing and editing!

Cascades

photoblog-day-653.jpg

We drove up to Yosemite again yesterday. The falls are just spectacular and a challenge to photograph. These are the cascades between the upper and lower Yosemite Fall.

Green Eyes Wine

Not sure how good a wine this is but I find the label kinda creepy.

wine-eyes-9632.jpg

This was taken at a wedding I recently attended. Having four sets of the same eyes peaking out over the ice and following where ever you go was kind of a weird feeling, so of course I photographed it. With the four main subjects this is a very busy photograph. Your eyes keep jumping from bottle to bottle, then taking in the texture of the ice and then…………..

Three Roses

One of my rose bushes was in full bloom the other day.

I decided to do a little playing in Photo Shop. Needless to say I used several layers and masks to get this effect. Hope you enjoy.

Mountains and Clouds

photoblog-day-652.jpg

I created this image with the help of a 100-400mm lens at 400mm. Lond lenses have the tendency to compress background and forground. In this image the clouds seem to be very close to the mountain.

Mama Bear and Cubs

photoblog-day-651.jpg

On our way to Glacier Point (Yosemite National Park) we saw a bunch of cars stopping on the side of the road and people with there cameras. Of course we stopped too and saw this bear and her two cubs. We were lucky seeing them and even more lucky that the bear did not chase us.

There are moments when I just love my heavy 100-400mm  stabilized lens. This was one of them. I used my C-sensor body which gave me a 640mm focal length!

Enjoy and happy photographing!

Dogwood

photoblog-day-650.jpg

Just a few days ago the dogwood was not blooming at Kings Canyon. Now the trees are in full bloom. I photographed these blossoms at the North Grove Loop trail, which is a 1.5 mile long pleasant walk around Grant Grove.

Enjoy and happy photographing!

Contrast

photoblog-day-649.jpg

This is another “high” contrast image. There is already a color contrast between the white and the red poppy. Putting the red and white poppy into the corners of the image creates two focal points which gives the image a lot of tension. Increasing the contrast also means adding to the tension.

Enjoy and happy creating!
