Bunny

photoblog-day-736.jpg

This is my Halloween Bunny. I like the creativity and imagination of Halloween.

Enjoy and have a lot of fun today!

Fall

There’s more to a pumpkin patch than pumpkins.

This sunflower reminds me that even though fall is a wonderful time to photograph it also signals the end of summer. While the flower is still colorful the leaves and stem tell the future.

Young Gunner

I met this young man at the Civil War Revisited

He struck this pose without being asked and was quite informative.  It reminded me of what you see in photos from the era. He’s probably about the right age for those that fought in the war, as with most wars.

I changed this to sepia tone and added some grain to give it more of an older feel. I really hated to do this because the original was so sharp. Oh well…..

Fall Colors

photoblog-day-735.jpg

This year I am totally hooked on Fall colors. I don’t know exactly why but I see great images in many trees and bushes and I constantly out photographing.

Enjoy and have a great week-end!

Bread & Butter

photoblog-day-734.jpg

One of the challenge is always to photograph something that happens everyday a million times and make it into something special. I loved this bread and tried to create a great image by using my 50mm prime lens pretty wide open to show clearly just the part of the bread that the viewer is going to bite into in a second.

Enjoy and bon appetite!

Cars in Merced

photoblog-day-733.jpg

I wanted to photograph buildings in Merced and most of the time cars got into my composition so I finally decided to purposely integrate them in my composition. The image is the result of that effort.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Decay

photoblog-day-732.jpg

This is an old door with an opening for mail. It looks like the door hasn’t been painted for years. The paint is peeling and it is fallen apart.

I have a hard time creating images like this because I like to look out for beauty but an image like this is a reminder to take good care of your property and even more important of your body.

Keep on photographing!

Young Aspen

photoblog-day-731.jpg

Ansel Adams and other photographers photographed Aspens in black ad white and I tried to do the same. I discovered young Aspen trees and the Tilden Park right outside Berkeley, CA and photographed them. I used Nik Silver Efix pro to convert the image into black and white.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Fog of War

“Fog” of war doesn’t refer to moisture in the air.

fog-of-war-1960.jpg

This ‘fog’ was created by the cannon used in the Civil War Reenactment at Kearney Park outside Fresno.  With no wind the smoke just hung over the battlefield.

This was near the end of the battle, the young man stands over his fallen comrades. Soon the surgeons will come by as well as the ‘widows walk’. The wives and relatives of the soldiers will look through the fallen for their husbands or kin folk. In the beginning of the war people would actually go out and have picnics planning to watch the battle.

Ready

Just as we were getting ready to leave the pumpkin patch I came across this table setting

ready-1764.jpg

The setting sun reflecting off the pumpkins, the stems going at different angles and the fall colors as a background just caught my eye. I used a tree to steady the camera. In fact the owners of the patch sat down at a nearby table and were planning on having dinner after the crowd left. Unfortunately I wasn’t invited to join them.
