Union Square

photoblog-day-774.jpg

Union Square in San Francisco is always full of life and always offer millions of opportunities for photography. I took this shot in front of the fully decorated Macy’s building.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Repetition

photoblog-day-773.jpg

San Francisco is full of beautiful buildings. I see a lot of creativity in many of them and I tried to capture it. I love the style and the repetition of these windows which I photographed from Yerba Buena Park.

The Golden Gate Bridge

photoblog-day-772b.jpg

I photographed the Golden Gate Bridge south of China Beach in San Francisco in other words, I was standing southwest of the bridge. Most images are probably shot standing east or southeast of the bridge.

Christmas Bows

While wrapping some gifts…

This is a very dynamic  image. Your eye can’ find a single focus point so it wanders all across the photograph.

Broken Crayons

I came across some paint and crayons and thought hmmm…..

crayons3-2514.jpg

I like the vibrancy of the  primary colors. Not much subtlety here. Add a grunge border and there you go.

Old Town Sacramento

photoblog-day-771.jpg

Anybody who has ever visited Old town Sacramento knows how hard it is to photograph one of the historic buildings without a car parked in front of it or a car driving into the image. This time I got lucky and got this image despite the traffic and the 5seconds exposure time. I converted it to black and white to give it a more historic look.

Enjoy and happy photographing!

Poker Table

photoblog-day-770.jpg

On our way to Monterey, CA we stopped at San Juan Bautista State Historic Park. In one of the buildings is an old poker table which I had to photograph. I focused on the first glass and used the cards as leading lines. The second glass, which is purposely out of focus serves as a balancing point in the image.

Enjoy and keep on making images!

St. Mary’s

photoblog-day-768.jpg

This is St. Mary’s church in Moraga, CA. The church is part of St. Mary’s college which was originally started in Sam Francisco and later moved into the East Bay.

I wanted to give the image some 3D feeling by using the stairs in front of the church. There is also the light in the trees and the light at the stairs that compete with the lights in the church. The stairs are also functioning as a leading line to draw your eyes towards the church. All in all I consider this a pretty dynamic image.

Fire and Water

photoblog-day-769.jpg

Last night I was working on my photo project for the week ( see www.passionforphotos.com) photographing water droplets as they were falling down. I decided to experiment a little bit.  I tried to photograph a water droplet falling on a burning candle. It took a little bit of patience but after a while I got this image. Camera setting: 180mm macro lens, f16, 1/200sec. (flash) at ISO 100.

Christmas Dance

photoblog-day-767.jpg

My wife and I visited beautiful Monterey, CA to talk part in the annual event “Christmas in the Adobes.” 23 beautiful historic adobe homes were decorated for Christmas offering the visitor an opportunity to see how the people of Monterey were celebrating Christmas more than 150 years ago. There were dances in on of the homes and I got this great shot.

Enjoy and have a great week!
