Clouds on Highway 140

photoblog-day-825.jpg

I drove a little bit out of town into the foothills on Highway 140 when I discovered the clouds at sunset. My plan was to photograph rocks and Spring flowers. My plan changed when I saw the clouds and the sunset.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Blossoms

photoblog-day-824.jpg

I used a 50mm lens at f1.4 to create this image. Wide open lenses give you a narrow depth of field and you are able to create very interesting images by emphasizing you subject and blurring the background.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Fallen Oak Tree

photoblog-day-823.jpg

I photographed this Oak tree outside Mariposa, CA. It was an overcast day providing excellent light conditions. I used NIK Silver Efix pro to convert the image into black and white.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Silhouette at Sunset

Last weekend Friedhelm and I stopped at Lake Yosemite.

Even though it was still some time before sunset and it was quite bright I was able to get this silhouette of this tree against the lake and sky. Well, shooting at 1/2000 of a second at f8 does give you some creative options.

The Spinner

While Friedhelm continued to photograph around the old house I took a look at some of the machinery near by.

This is called a ’spinner’. It’s used to allow someone to steer a vehicle using only one hand, necessary in farming, illegal in most cases on the street. The mottled background is the remnants of an old foam rubber seat which adds some wonderful texture.

Nail and Spider Web

photoblog-day-822.jpg

One more image from the abandoned house. I was looking for subjects for my 180mm macro lens when I discovered this nail. In the beginning I totally overlooked the spider web around it. It always pays to look twice to discover something interesting.

Enjoy and have a great week-end

The Dance

photoblog-day-821.jpg

If you have a little fantasy you see a “girl” in the water. The musician in the background is playing and she is dancing.

I photographed the fountain in beautiful Carmel, CA. Enjoy and have a great photographic day!

Old House

photoblog-day-820.jpg

David and I went out to photograph an old abandoned house. I walked around the house several times ( each time with a different lens on my camera) and photographed everything that caught my attention. I decided to create kind of a collage with nine of the best images.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Craving a Cookie

photoblog-day-819.jpg

Whenever I am not supposed to eat something I crave it. Instead of eating it, I decided to photograph it. I edited a glass of soy milk, a nice plate and table cloth.

Enjoy and at the end the craving won, I ate the cookie!

The Nail

David and I went to photograph an abandoned house. I created this image using my 180mm macro lens mounted on a tripod.

Enjoy and have a great creative week!
