Bixby Bridge

photoblog-day-782.jpg

The famous Bixby Bridge is located about 13 miles south of Carmel, CA. Famous photographers like Roman Loranc have photographed here and while I was photographing many other photographers were giving their cameras a work-out. I decided to emphasise the structure of the bridge by removing most of the colors.

Enjoy and happy photographing!

California Coast

photoblog-day-781.jpg

I photographed this image south of Carmel, CA during the late afternoon. The light was beautiful and the waves were high. there was a nice breeze and about half an hour later the fog started to roll in.

Enjoy and keep on creating great images!

The Golden Gate Bridge

photoblog-day-772b.jpg

I photographed the Golden Gate Bridge south of China Beach in San Francisco in other words, I was standing southwest of the bridge. Most images are probably shot standing east or southeast of the bridge.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Sunset at the Beach

I was photographing the sunset over the Pacific Ocean when I discovered the red and blue color tones at the beach. I had to photograph it.

Enjoy and happy Thanksgiving!

Roof Lines

If there’s a building around when I’m photographing I’ll probably take a photograph of the roof line.

roof-lines-0280.jpg

This is from Cathedral San Carlos in Monterey. Notice how the two towers mimic one another against the clouds and sky. Also, the leading edge of the roof draws your eye back into the photo. A perfect day to take photographs looking up.

Counter Seats

A little bit of Americana.

counter-seats2-0241.jpg

After visiting the Mission San Juan Batista Friedhelm and I had lunch at a little cafe’.  I actually stole this shot from Friedhelm. He was facing the other way and took a shot towards the door while mine is towards the back of the cafe’. Since he didn’t post his, all is fair…………..

River of Life

The metal door hardware is what first caught my eye.

cathederal-door-0224.jpg

Then I noticed all the various textures and nuances. A long time ago I was told that the wavy lines you see on mission doors represented the ‘River of Life’ to the local Indians. They were put there to show the Indians that the ‘River of Life’ could be found within the walls of the church. Not sure if that’s true but I like the ‘River of Life’ idea.

Purple Bells

Friedhelm and I were walking around downtown Monterey when we came upon these flowers.

Friedhelm told me the name but I can’t recall. I keep saying I have to get a field book on flowers. It’s on my list somewhere. If anyone knows of a good one, small but comprehensive for the western US please add a comment. Thanks.

Asilomar Beach

photoblog-day-688.jpg

One of the prettiest places to photograph is Asilomar Beach, located on the Monterey Peninsula in Central California. The light is always different and I always find new subjects to photograph.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!
