Reindeer Collar
16. December 2010 by Friedhelm.
I love people’s imagination and creativity. This is a giant reindeer collar which I discovered in San Francisco during a photo walk. Sorry, I did not see the giant reindeer.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Christmas contrasts
24. December 2009 by Friedhelm.
We had to get out of town yesterday and we decided to go to San Francisco for the most part of the day. My family went shopping and I had several hours time to wander around Market street and to photograph. I took a picture of the the incredible architecture that I admired in the shopping mall. I wondered about how the homeless person will experience the Holidays in front of a 60% sale sign and I visited St. Patrick’s church for a moment of silence where I photographed the nativity display.
All three image are somehow an expression of Christmas for me. Enjoy and have a great day!

The many faces of Christmas part 04
18. December 2009 by Friedhelm.
Last night I walked around my neighborhood (I live in Merced, CA) to find some interesting Christmas decorations around my neighborhood. Not too far from us I found this little electric train that sparked my interest. I used a tripod of course and my camera setting was f11, 2sec., ISO 100.
Don’t forget you find interesting subjects right in front of your door steps. Many time I thought, I wish I would live in ….to photograph great images. It’s a temptation to overlook all the interesting images around your home. I take a camera with me every morning when I do my exercise walk and instead of carrying weights I have a tripod on my shoulders.

The many faces of Christmas part 03
17. December 2009 by Friedhelm.
I photographed this in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Ludwigsburg is a relatively small town close to Stuttgart. We visited the city because of the famous castle which I photographed intensely, however before we entered the castle I saw this house. The yellow and green tones complement each other and it was just naturally that I had to press the shutter.
Enjoy!

The many faces of Christmas part 02
16. December 2009 by Friedhelm.
I photographed these ornaments in front of the Cathedral in Strasbourg, France. By the way, the Cathedral was the world tallest building for more than 200 years from 1647-1874. Strasbourg is a beautiful city and seat of the European Parliament. During the Christmas time the city is beautiful decorated and provides great opportunities for every photographer.
Enjoy!

The many faces of Christmas part 01
15. December 2009 by Friedhelm.
I photographed many animals that are well cared for. Unfortunately there will be many pets given as Christmas gifts and afterwards abandoned. When you give a pet keep in mind, that it will require years of commitment. Having said this, enjoy your animal and this image. Studio shot: One strobe light (umbrella) from above, f5.0. 1/250sec., ISO 200.
