Sunset
10. August 2010 by David.
If you like dramatic landscapes and sunsets the Rocky Mountains in August is a good place to start.
This was one of those times when you don’t know which photograph to post. I was constantly moving and turning my camera and tripod in different directions trying to get the full effect of this magical evening. Hope you enjoy.
f4.5, 1/4 sec, 20mm, ISO 125, and my trusty travel tripod.
Keep clicking,
Dave

Security
8. August 2010 by Friedhelm.
“Good bye God I am going to Bodie!” This sentence was written by a young girl into her diary entering the “wicked” city. I can imagine that the need for security was high in a city where many homicides occurred. Therefor I should have been not surprised finding two locks at this door.
Enjoy and have a great Sunday!

Bodie, CA
7. August 2010 by Friedhelm.
We shot a lot of small things that were in the shadow because of the harsh sunlight. I decided to try at least a few wider shots to show a little bit of the city and surroundings. The large blue building is the mining facility and you see the impact of the mining in the hills surrounding the city. Noticeable is also that there are no trees in the image. The elevation is around 8400 feet and therefor above tree line.
Enjoy and happy week-end

Electricity in Bodie
6. August 2010 by Friedhelm.
Bodie was the first town is history that received electricity from a distance in 1892! You can read more about this in the following link: http://itotd.com/articles/356/bodie-california/
The signs of electricity are everywhere. I photographed this building because the cut-off cables create such in interesting composition.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Window Cross
27. July 2010 by Friedhelm.
I was privileged to be part of the Merced City Walk last Saturday. During my walk I discovered an old window. The glass reflected the light in all kinds of colors and wood was pretty much deteriorated which created the possibility of an interesting image. Camera setting: 70-200mm lens with 12mm extension tube and doubler, f9, 1/13sec., ISO 100.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Homeless in Merced
16. July 2010 by Friedhelm.
I did my usual exercise walk yesterday morning and When I walked around Rahilly Park I would a homeless person sleeping on the ground. This person had a backpack, suitcase, blankets and everything was neatly organized. Looking at the glasses I suspect that a girl was sleeping here. Was she kicked out by her family? Does she even have a family? I don’t know. What I know is that every time I photograph someone I also photograph someone’s history and I always wonder what happened in her past that she ended here.
Have a great Friday. It will be a very hot Friday int he Central Valley in California.

Downtown Jacksonville, OR
7. July 2010 by Friedhelm.
Jacksonville, OR, a few miles away from Medford, is a paradise for photographers. The historic buildings offers thousands of subjects. There is only one problem. Unless you come real early, there are cars parked everywhere and they really don’t belong here and as of now I have not found a way to integrate them into my images. I wish there would be a car free zone at least at “Main’ street.
Enjoy!

Back Alley Image
18. June 2010 by Friedhelm.
Last week the Chowchilla Photo Club went on a town walk. We stopped every 90 seconds and we were asked to take one shot. This is one image that I shot in an alley. I converted it to B/W to reveal the structure of the image better.
Enjoy and happy Friday!

The San Francisco Bay
16. June 2010 by admin.
I drove into the Oakland hills visiting Redwood regional park and Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve. While driving from Redwood to Huckleberry I stopped because the view of the City of Oakland and San Francisco was just breathtaking. In this image you see the Oakland Bay bridge on the left hand side and on the right the Golden Gate bridge.
Enjoy!
