Eclipse in Clouds 2

photoblog-day-886.jpg

The light changed dramatically during the eclipse. I switched to my 15mm super wide angle lens and started shooting. I captured this image during the few seconds the eclipse was visible through the hole in the clouds.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Eclipse in Clouds 1

photoblog-day-885a.jpg

I was at Point Lobos, south of Carmel, CA, when the solar eclipse occurred. I was extremely lucky because the clouds were just coming in and mother nature performed a superb act. I used my 100-400mm lens, tripod mounted on a c-sensor camera body which gave me an additional 1.6 magnification factor.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Moonrise in Yosemite Valley

photoblog-day-873.jpg

The air in Yosemite National Park is so much cleaner than in the Central California Valley. This is obvious when one photographs the moon. I took more than one shot and I decided to post a second image. I shot both images with my 100-400 lens using a c-censor camera body and of course a tripod.

Enjoy both images and have a great week-end!

Moonrise over Half Dome

Friedhelm and I were lucky enough to catch the moonrise over Half Dome

moon-half-dome-2-1516.jpg

As we walked towards Paparazzi Bridge (Centennial Bridge) a lot of people were leaving. We wondered why they were leaving when the show had just begun. The clouds were obscuring the moon but a little patience paid off for us and probably would have for them.  It turned out to be a late night but well worth the lost sleep.

The Moon

photoblog-day-725.jpg

Since we had full moon last night and the Central California air was somewhat clear I went out using my 100-400mm Canon lens to give it another try. You see the result.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Moonbow

photoblog-day-646.jpg

Last night was full moon in Yosemite and one of the rare opportunities to photograph a rainbow created by the moon on Yosemite Falls. I shot this image around 1:00 AM.

Enjoy and happy photographing!

The Moon

photoblog-day-582.jpg

Yesterday I did a few test shots with an AP-C-sensor camera. Since it is almost full moon I had a perfect subject. Using a tripod and a 100-400mm  lens at 400mm I got this image. Not bad, considering all the air pollution and stray light on my street.

Happy  Friday and go out and create some great images!

Blue Moon over Carmel

photoblog-day-265.jpg

I shot this photo on Ocean Blvd. in Carmel. I did not think it would come out the way it did because there was so much stray light around. A person that walked by looked at my camera and then on the moon saying:” Oh, a blue moon!” I was more concentrated on the relatively fast moving clouds. Camera setting: f11, 5sec., ISO 100 at 250mm focal length.

Enjoy and have a great 2010!

Full Moon in December

photoblog-day-240.jpg

We had full moon last night and and this presented an excellent opportunity to photograph the moon. In addition the air was relatively clean in the Central California valley and I was happy which what I got. I don’t have to mention that I used a tripod to get this shot but I need to mention that I was tinkering with a 30+year old M42 lens that I connected to my DSLR. I collect old lenses and I am always amazed how well they perform in comparison to my computer generated lenses.

Enjoy!
