Burney Falls #2
12. May 2012 by David.
Burney Falls has many faces.
People will hike many miles to see a small waterfall. Burney is truly a ‘falls’. It has the large main falls, side falls curtain falls and just about any other kind you can think of. If you’re bored diving up Interstate 5 in Northern California take an hour detour from Redding and head out to the corner of highways 299 and 89.

River Swing
6. May 2012 by David.
I took Highway 299 from Redding to Burney part of the way following a creek.
I can’t find the name of the creek the highway was following but I spotted this swing on the opposite bank. You never know when something interesting is going to pop up around the next corner.

Burney Falls
5. May 2012 by David.
I recently took a quick trip to northern California.
I took a detour from straight up I5 and went to Burney Falls. This is actually a side view of the fairly expansive fall. Note that some of the water seems to be coming out of the hillside and not from the top. This is one of the unique features of the falls. In the summer the river that feeds the falls goes dry but because of the lava formations and aquifer water still goes over the falls thought much of it comes out of rocks behind the falls.

Mast of the Balclutha
6. April 2012 by Friedhelm.
The Balclutha is on of the historic ships at the San Francisco Maritime Historical Park. If you are in San Francisco it is definitely worth a visit. I shot this image right after a rain storm when the light was still beautifully soft.
Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Lines
16. March 2012 by Friedhelm.
This is part of the UC Davis campus. There are lines everywhere in this image and it reminds me of David’s view of photography: “It is all about lines!”
Enjoy and keep on looking for lines and create great images!

Boiler Plate
14. January 2012 by David.
Steam engines are marvels of engineering.
For them to work properly tremendous pressure must be produced. Whats holding that pressure back. These little bolts. So you have to have a lot of them.

The Golden Gate Bridge
19. December 2011 by Friedhelm.
I photographed the Golden Gate Bridge south of China Beach in San Francisco in other words, I was standing southwest of the bridge. Most images are probably shot standing east or southeast of the bridge.
Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Old Town Sacramento
16. December 2011 by Friedhelm.
Anybody who has ever visited Old town Sacramento knows how hard it is to photograph one of the historic buildings without a car parked in front of it or a car driving into the image. This time I got lucky and got this image despite the traffic and the 5seconds exposure time. I converted it to black and white to give it a more historic look.
Enjoy and happy photographing!
