14. January 2012 by David.
Steam engines are marvels of engineering.
For them to work properly tremendous pressure must be produced. Whats holding that pressure back. These little bolts. So you have to have a lot of them.

The Golden Gate Bridge
19. December 2011 by Friedhelm.
I photographed the Golden Gate Bridge south of China Beach in San Francisco in other words, I was standing southwest of the bridge. Most images are probably shot standing east or southeast of the bridge.
Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Old Town Sacramento
16. December 2011 by Friedhelm.
Anybody who has ever visited Old town Sacramento knows how hard it is to photograph one of the historic buildings without a car parked in front of it or a car driving into the image. This time I got lucky and got this image despite the traffic and the 5seconds exposure time. I converted it to black and white to give it a more historic look.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Sacramento River Bridge
26. September 2011 by Friedhelm.
We visited “Old Town” Sacramento and walked along the Sacramento River. The later afternoon produced excellent light. I used three exposures which I combined in Photomatix pro to create this image.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Oakland Bay Bridge
17. September 2011 by Friedhelm.
I had the opportunity to be in San Francisco last night and my plan was to photograph the skyscrapers in the financial district during sunset. The Oakland Bay bridge was “just” a side product. Technically this image was created using three exposures and combining them in Photomatix pro. In addition I created several layers to fine tune the image.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Roller Coaster
16. September 2011 by Friedhelm.
I decided to photograph this roller coaster in between the palm tree and the huge iron pipe. Both form a very nice natural frame which adds considerably to the image. It’s Friday and hopefully you do some fun stuff this week-end. Don’t forget to photograph!

I found this Fall on Yankee Jim’s Road near I80 (Colfax, CA ). The Falls are easy to reach via a very narrow winding dirt road.

Mount Shasta
12. August 2011 by Friedhelm.
I photographed Mount Shasta from Interstate 5 shortly after we entered the State of California driving home from Oregon. It was amazing to see the difference between the dry landscape of the foothills in comparison to the snow covered mountain. And let’s not forget, I took this image in August!
Enjoy and happy week-end!

Alcatraz
20. July 2011 by Friedhelm.
I recently took a cruise around the San Francisco Bay which enabled me to photograph the “Rock” from the other side of the Island. It was pretty windy in the Bay and I was thankful to get a few decent images of the Island. Enjoy this one and keep on photographing!
