Faucets
5. November 2011 by David.
Maybe it’s part of the plumber in me (Jack of all trades) but I like this photograph.
The faucet handles are what first caught my eye. These have been there a long time and will probably still be there a long time from now. There is tension in the photograph caused by two primary objects. And I even threw in a dead spider near the faucet on the right.

Fall Colors
28. October 2011 by Friedhelm.
This year I am totally hooked on Fall colors. I don’t know exactly why but I see great images in many trees and bushes and I constantly out photographing.
Enjoy and have a great week-end!

Moonrise over Half Dome
16. October 2011 by David.
Friedhelm and I were lucky enough to catch the moonrise over Half Dome
As we walked towards Paparazzi Bridge (Centennial Bridge) a lot of people were leaving. We wondered why they were leaving when the show had just begun. The clouds were obscuring the moon but a little patience paid off for us and probably would have for them. It turned out to be a late night but well worth the lost sleep.

Thongs
1. October 2011 by David.
When Friedhelm suggested we photograph shoes I was a little skeptical.
I like how this one keeps your eyes wandering around the photograph, following the straps, the edges and the background pattern of the thongs. That’s what us old timers call them. I think now the term is ‘flip flops’.

Devils Falls
17. August 2011 by admin.
We are proud to present Renate Stolte, a photographer and painter, as our guest blogger. Renate’s images can be seen at the Gallery on the Square in Merced, CA.Enjoy her work!
I found this Fall on Yankee Jim’s Road near I80 (Colfax, CA ). The Falls are easy to reach via a very narrow winding dirt road.

Phantom Ship
4. August 2011 by Friedhelm.
The small island on the lower right side is called Phantom Ship. I believe the mountain peak on the upper left side is called Mount Thielsen. Notice the nice contrast in the composition between Mount Thielsen and Phantom Ship.Enjoy and happy photographing!

Passion Flower
6. July 2011 by Friedhelm.
I used three extension tubes on a 24-105 lens and a small flash to create this image. The flash was connected through a cable to the camera and I positioned it about 90 degrees on the the left hand side.
Enjoy and happy photographing!

Wine Glasses
1. July 2011 by David.
The first photograph of these glasses was straight on and was simply a row of glasses.
I usually like lines and symmetry in my photographs. While this shot from a slight angle is somewhat busy it is a lot more interesting and keeps your eye moving. If you look closely at the first few glasses you can see the reflection (for lack of a better word) of many of the other glasses. Lines don’t always have to be lined up.

Green Eyes Wine
26. June 2011 by David.
Not sure how good a wine this is but I find the label kinda creepy.
This was taken at a wedding I recently attended. Having four sets of the same eyes peaking out over the ice and following where ever you go was kind of a weird feeling, so of course I photographed it. With the four main subjects this is a very busy photograph. Your eyes keep jumping from bottle to bottle, then taking in the texture of the ice and then…………..

Lone Palm
12. June 2011 by David.
Chowchilla is known for its lines of palm trees along Robertson Blvd.
Lately we’ve had some unseasonably bad weather. I decided to show a little of both. While this image is mostly blacks and greys when I tried converting this to black and white the image seemed to flatten. The little bit of blue is just enough to bring out the contrasts. Hopefully this is the last sky like this for a while.
